Dr. Benson graduated from veterinary school at the University of California at Davis in 1980. He practiced equine medicine in Sonoma County, California for 24 years and has practiced in the Rogue Valley since 2005. He will now be practicing as a mobile equine veterinarian throughout the Rogue Valley. 

Dr. Benson was the head veterinarian in charge for the renowned Tevis 100 mile endurance ride for ten years. He was the United States Equestrian Team Endurance veterinarian for several years, which included traveling with the US team horses to two world championships and numerous international competitions.

Outside of Veterinary medicine he enjoys backcountry pack trips with horses and mules.

 

Dr Benson is committed to improving the quality of life for his equine patients by providing high quality medical care when needed and through educating his clients on how to responsibly care for their horses. Dr Benson really cares about horses, both personally and professionally, and considers it a privilege to be able to work with them. He has very good “people skills” and enjoys teaching owners about their horses. He has extensive background in supporting horses in many disciplines.
